prosperSt. Paul

renting is not the exception,

ITS the majority.

Nearly half of Saint Paul rents, and none of the city's wealth-building systems were built for them. ProsperSt.Paul exists to change that.

For generations, homeownership has been framed as the only viable pathway to building intergenerational wealth. But renting is not a temporary stopgap or a failure to launch. For millions of households including more than half of all households in Saint Paul — renting is a long-term, intentional housing choice shaped by economic realities, cultural preferences, and structural barriers that were built into our systems by design.

FAQs

Here's what you need to know about participating, what to expect, and how the application process works.

“Half of Saint Paul rents. Their stability matters not as a stepping stone to something else, but because stable renters mean stronger families and stronger communities.”

“ProsperSt.Paul is built on that belief, offering real pathways to stability and wealth for residents where they are right now.”
