Housing that is Affordable -
To be actively involved in the planning and development of quality housing that is affordable, including strategies for the prevention of homelessness.
Through our community development activities ASANDC, had been addressing the affordable housing issues since the mid 1980's. ASANDC has purchased, renovated, and sold over 31 properties for low to moderate income for single family housing, facilitated the demolition of 15 nuisance and abandoned properties, developed nine units of rental housing for under-employed men, purchased and directed the renovation of a six-plex, and renovated/developed 189 units of affordable rental housing.

Groundbreaking ceremony for MCASA Homes.
MCASA Homes - An Affordable Option for Homeownership.
Services MCASA offers:
Homeownership counseling and home maintenance are also part of this program.
The topics include:
- How to manage your money
- How to reduce your debt
- Repairing your credit
- Property taxes and insurance
- Qualifying for a mortgage
- Loan application process
- Being a good neighbor
- Foreclosure prevention
- Understanding warranties
- Conserving energy
- Tools needed for your home
- Minor repairs
- Seasonal maintenance and more.
MCASA includes a lease-to-purchase financing structure as well as contracts-for-deed. An advantage to the lease-to-purchase model is that program participants are considered first time home buyers and thus qualify for first time home buyer assistance (e.g. low interest loans and down payment assistance.) This is not the case for Contract-for-Deed participants.
A lease-to-purchase/contract-for-deed is a legal agreement between MCASA and the buyer that outlines the requirements the buyer must fulfill in order to purchase the house. Once the buyer completes those requirements, the buyer receives the legal title to the house and enjoys full ownership.
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Is a first time home buyer
- Has completed or agrees to complete the Home Stretch and Credit Smart classes.
- Has an annual household income between $41,000 and $62,000
- Has been employed continuously for at least 18 months.
- Willing to enter into a contract-for-deed and is able to purchase the title from MCASA, LLC within 6 to 24 months.
- Is actively resolving any debt and poor credit.
- Is committed to working with a homeownership counselor.
- Has a family size of two to six individuals

Economic Development - To help stimulate more sustainable small businesses and commercial development in the community.
ASANDC began its micro-entrepreneur training and loan program in July of 1993. Several businesses since then are still in operation today. Many have been highly successful.
We offer classes for area residents who want to learn the skills needed to successfully start and operate a business.
We also offer classes to current business owners who want to take their business to the next level.
Business plan development, other technical assistance and startup funds are provided by our community partner, Neighborhood Development Center.
We are taking applications for our business classes.
